Full test programs are performed on heating and air conditioning systems, analysing air balance, thermal comfort and consumption.

The aim of this test is to demonstrate the HVAC system is operating correctly over the entire range of internal loads and simulated external environmental conditions for which the vehicle has been designed. Furthermore, these test series usually determine the heat transfer characteristics (UA-factor, k coefficient) occurring through the body.

CETEST prepares, provides the instrumentation and executes the test according to a procedure previously agreed with the client. We then generate final reports featuring the test results and conclusions.

Temperature and humidity levels in the chamber are also measured continuously and synchronised with all the other readings. We also use other instrumentation, such as anemometers, manometers, flow hoods, air flow meters, differential voltage probes, current clamps, tachometers, sound meters, etc.

Data recorded by the HVAC trouble-shooting software (if available) can also be analysed and post-processed. Correlation of CFD simulations in prototypes is another option available.

Climate testing can be performed at the climate room test facility in Elmira, NY (USA). CETEST will carry out the tests under a framework agreement that defines them as the sole operator of the facility.
